Arthurs Point Protection Society, controlling noise pollution in Queenstown New Zealand.

The Arthurs Point Protection Society

The Arthurs Point Protection Society came about in 2008 because of intolerable helicopter noise in the area. It appealed a QLDC decision to extend the use of the existing Arthurs Point Helipad located opposite the Swiss-Belresort Coronet Peak Hotel.

The Arthurs Point Protection Society has two objectives:

The Society has successfully appealed the introduction of the New Zealand Helicopter Standard NZ6807 to the QLDC District Plan via Plan Change 27A, in June 2010. Helicopters can not land right next door to your house.

We continue to watch that this standard does not get used by the QLDC. Objective 1.

The Arthurs Point Protection Society is now worried about safety issues with such a large number of helicopters flying within a close proximity to the general public, in particular Bob’s Peak helipad at the Skyline restaurant. Objective 2.
